Mail Merge with Excel Charts

HI,

I need to execute mail merge with excel charts, there are 100+ records in excel.

Based on certain data field i need to create a pie chart.

Using mail merge i am expected to have different pie chart for each record

Is their any way to create this functionality in office 2010 ???

Download the MergeTools – 20120609 Add-in that I created from the following page of my Windows Live SkyDrive:

and also the Mail Merging with Charts document that is also on that page. That document explains how you must set up the Excel Data Source and the Mail Merge Main document to be able to execute a merge with a Chart that is unique to each record in the data source.

Hi Doug, thank you for your reply.

I've saved it in the Startup menu. I closed Word and reopened it and the merge tools are not appearing on the ribbon. Do I need to shut my laptop down completely? I took screenshots, but I don't see any way to attach them here.

Since I didn't have the merge tools on my own ribbon, I opened your file last night and the merge tools appeared on the ribbon when it opened your file. I tried to create my merge document in that window and ran into a few issues:

I don't seem to be able to insert merge fields in my word document unless I am using the merge wizard and have selected the recipients beforehand. When I selected 'use an existing list', I browsed to the excel data file I created following your instructions. I am being given a list of things to select: Chart$,Chart$XLDataRow,Data$,Sheet3$, XLChartData. I tried it choosing several of the options. I am getting my normal merge fields to populate, but nothing in the pie chart area. When I click the Chart Merge field in the tools ribbon I get an error 1004 Application-defined or object-defined error.

Can you give me any suggestions? Thanks in advance......

In Windows Explorer, click on the Organize drop down and then on Folder and search options and in the Folder Options dialog that appears, go to the View tab and click on Show hidden files, folders and drives.

While you are there, also uncheck the box for Hide extensions for known file types.

Hi there,

I just stumbled on this thread today as I was looking for a way to merge excel data into word and include pie charts from that data. I opened the link you provided to the merge tools. When I try a File - Save As to save it to my startup menu, I don't have the folders that you mention. I don't have an AppData or Roaming Directory. I have Windows 7. Can you suggest where I should look or where I should save it? I am using MS Office 2010.

Any help is appreciated....
