Download the MergeTools – 20120609 Add-in that I created from the following page of my Windows Live SkyDrive:

https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=5aedcb43615e886b#cid=5AEDCB43615E886B&id=5AEDCB43615E886B%21111

and also the Mail Merging with Charts document that is also on that page.  That document explains how you must set up the Excel Data Source and the Mail Merge Main document to be able to execute a merge with a Chart that is unique to each record in the data source.

    Hi,

I was able to get this to work on my work computer.  Now that it's there, I created a merge document per the instructions and saved it.  While it is still open, I clicked the "Chart Merge" on the toolbar.  I get the following error:

The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings.  I followed the instructions and enabled all macros in the Trust Center.  It still generated the error.  I followed the next instructions to go to the Templates and Add-ins dialog box, and it is there (I didn't have to add or attach it).  The next help suggestion is to copy the macro from one template to another via the Organizer utility at the bottom of the Templates and Add Ins dialog box.  I get a window that shows one list under "in Merge Doc:" with

    Default Paragraph Font

    No List

    Normal

    Normal (Web)

    Table Grid

    Table Normal

and Styles available in:  Merge Doc (Template)

and then another list under "To Normal" with

    Default paragraph font

    No list

    Normal

    Table Normal

and Styles available in: Normal.dotm (global template)

I'm not sure what to do here, if anything in this window?

    Sorry for all the questions!

Exactly where did you save it?  With what name did you save it?

If it is not listed under the Document Template item of the Developer tab, either:

    1. you have NOT saved it in the correct location,
    2. you have changed the file extension when saving it

or 3. under File>Options>Advanced>General>File Locations, the Startup folder has been changed from:

    C:\Users[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

What does appear there for the location of the Startup folder?

    Hi Doug,

I opened the Document Template in the Developer tab and it's not displaying.  I've saved it in the right place and I can see it there.  Do I need to give it a particular name when saving it?

Also, I have downloaded the Mail Merging and Charts Document and used it to create my excel data.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Karen

If you go to the Developer tab of the ribbon (Enable it via File>Options>Customize Ribbon if necessary) and then click on Document Template, do you see the Merge Tools add-in listed in the Checked items are currently loaded list under Global templates and add-ins?

If not, you have not saved the file that you downloaded in the correct place.  If it is there, and there is no check mark against it, the put a check mark in the box.  (that should happen automatically when you start Word)

Have you downloaded and read the Mail Merging with Charts document?
