Download the MergeTools – 20120609 Add-in that I created from the following page of my Windows Live SkyDrive:

https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=5aedcb43615e886b#cid=5AEDCB43615E886B&id=5AEDCB43615E886B%21111

and also the Mail Merging with Charts document that is also on that page.  That document explains how you must set up the Excel Data Source and the Mail Merge Main document to be able to execute a merge with a Chart that is unique to each record in the data source.

You need to apply formatting switches to the MergeFields in the Mail Merge Main Document.  See "Formatting Word fields with switches" on fellow MVP Graham Mayor's website at

    Hi Doug,

I know this topic is over 2 years old, but your response was so good I had to register to show my gratitude. Your add-in is brilliant, instructions were clear and it worked an absolute treat for me.

Looking at the example screenshots you used in your instructional doc, I am putting together a document very similar to yours.. So a massive thank you, and great work!

I do however have one question regarding the data, and how it appears after the merge.

I am merging a 'Date of Birth' column, as well as a 'Salary' column - both of which, when in Excel are formatted to look how I would like them to:

DOB: Set in date format, so that 01/01/1991 appears as 1 January 1991.

Salary: Set in currency format, so that 19000 appears as £19,000

My problem is, when I run the mailmerge tools, the finished documents format themselves as the original values.

Is there any way around this? I have tried setting these cells as plain text, and just pasting the value in, but no matter what I try Excel reverts to the standard for both?

    Thanks again,

Contact me via email with your requirements and I will let you know what can be done.  It is something that I have done previously for other customers, but each case so far has been a bit different.

    Hi Mr. Robbins,

Thanks for the wonderful tool -- it is extremely useful. I was wondering, is there a way of merging multiple different graphs into a single mail merge document?

    Thank you,

    Joshua
