I keep getting the error "We're sorry, but Word has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Word will need to be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now?" when I start up word, powerpoint, excel, or any other other office program. I have tried both the quick repair and online repair but still get this error. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the 32 and 64 bit versions but still get this error. My computer is running Windows 7 and this is on Office 2013 Professional Plus. Please help as this problem is very annoying and takes about 10 minutes to repair before I can use any office program.

Here's how i fixed the exact error message people are reporting in this thread.

When i tried to change the compatibility mode on Winword.exe i found there were no options abvailable so i right clicked and selected Troubleshoot Compatibility.

From here select Troubleshoot Program then tick I Can't See My Problem Listed and then select Windows 8 from the next screen and apply the changes and it worked.

I should also note i had Abbyy finereader installed and the plugin was causing Word to crash so i simply opened in safe mode and disabled the plug-in.

Hope that at least helps someone.

    Right click on word - go to properties - Compatibility - Compatibility - Uncheck the option - Run this program in compatibility mode for - Windows XP

     

    Did you check the above steps. The above option will be there in all the operating system launched after Windows XP.

    I have been having the same problems and was guided to this thread and shared the same frustrations as spenceyadigg.  This step finally solved my problem.  Thank you!

    Thank you for sharing your troubleshooting steps.  This is a brand new Lenovo AIO desktop using Windows 8 with no previous Office Suites installed.  I have not been able to access Word since installing/uninstalling/reinstalling and reaching out to tech support starting back in November.

    Using the steps above, I right clicked on the Word icon and selected Open File Location.  From here the Microsoft Office 2013 file folder opened where you can right click on for properties and follow the above instructions within Compatibility.

    I did the method mentioned, but I didn't see The "Windows8" choise. The choises are the windows 7 and the earlier versions of windows. what shoul I do to resolve this problem in windows 8.

    Note: I can open and use the excel2013 program but when another program wants to transfer datas by opening excel copying datas to excel the error occurs.
