I keep getting the error "We're sorry, but Word has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Word will need to be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now?" when I start up word, powerpoint, excel, or any other other office program. I have tried both the quick repair and online repair but still get this error. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the 32 and 64 bit versions but still get this error. My computer is running Windows 7 and this is on Office 2013 Professional Plus. Please help as this problem is very annoying and takes about 10 minutes to repair before I can use any office program.

Here's how i fixed the exact error message people are reporting in this thread.

When i tried to change the compatibility mode on Winword.exe i found there were no options abvailable so i right clicked and selected Troubleshoot Compatibility.

From here select Troubleshoot Program then tick I Can't See My Problem Listed and then select Windows 8 from the next screen and apply the changes and it worked.

I should also note i had Abbyy finereader installed and the plugin was causing Word to crash so i simply opened in safe mode and disabled the plug-in.

Hope that at least helps someone.

    A friends laptop had this same error. I tried the fix listed but it did not help. What did fix it was a malware scan by Malwarebytes. It found several items related to the VideoDownloadConverter. Once I removed these items, her Word and PowerPoint are working fine again. Hope this helps someone.

    If that does not help, then you might remove all traces of the Office installation by downloading the fixit from the following article:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501

    saving it to your computer and then running it.

    Then reinstall Office by logging into www.office.com/myaccountwith your registered email address and click Install Office.

    BEFORE REMOVING THE OFFICE INSTALLATION,  MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO LOG INTO YOUR ACCOUNT!

    I am getting this error "We're sorry, but Word has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Word will need to be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now?" - only when I click "repair now" nothing happens. I can't use Word, I can't use Outlook. I tried to uninstall and reinstall. that didn't help, so I  tried a system restore back to yesterday, and that didn't solve the problem. Please help - this is deadly.
