How do I email a .pdf attachment through a mail merge Word & Outlook 2010

We email out group interest letters, the merge letter is created in Word 2010 and than email through mail merge Outlook 2010. We attached a .pdf flyer to each email. (at this time we are email one at a time.)

Is there a way to attach a .pdf file to an email blast (mail merge)? We are running XP right now but will be changing to Windows 7 with in the coming weeks.

Any help we could get on this would be great. Everything I have been able to pull off the internet is on earlier visions of Microsoft Office and Windows.

Thank you in advance.

I have looked at this but this is for earlier versions of Microsoft Office. I need something that will work with Office 2010, but thank you!

While the method to which Gordon gave you the link will work with any version of Word from Word 97 onwards, I have developed a much simpler method that you can use if you download the MergeTools – 20120225 Add-in that I created from the following page of my OneDrive:

The mergetools template must be saved in the Word Startup folder.

The file had been saved as a .docm file instead of a .dotm file!  Everything is working beautifully now.  Thank you.

Hi Doug.  I wanted to add an attachment to an email merge and found this thread.  It looks like your 2012 add-in is no longer available, so I downloaded the 2015 add-in.  When I tried to use the merge with attachment option, it said it was not available for email message merges, only for letters.  Did I do something wrong?

    Thanks for your help.

    Jaime

While the mail merge main document must be of the Letters... type, when you use the utility, you have the option of the documents created by executing the merge sent in any one of the following formats:

As the body of an email message

Attached to an email message that you can compose in the utility as a Word document

Attached to an email message that you can compose in the utility as a PDF document.

with, or without additional attachments in all cases.
