Here is another way.

1.  In the pages program on your mac, click on File, then Export to followed by Word

2.  On the Word” tab. Click on “Advanced Options" and on the format bar, click on .docx (if using any word version 2007 to present, or .doc if earlier version.

3.  On Save as, give the file a name, and location (desktop or flash drive) and click on export.

You can now take that file to any PC that has Word and open.

    Hi there,

    If you are talking about opening a file with .pages extension , well that is possible.

    Steps.

    1. Save the file locally on your windows computer.
    2. Right click on the file and select rename.
    3. Remove .pages extension and enter .zip as the extension and press enter.
    4. Open the zip file and it shold allow you open the file and its contents.

    I just want to say that this actually works. I had a student come to me with several .pages files on a USB drive. We are a Windows only campus, so she was unable to open her files to print them here on campus.

    I did a web search on how to open .pages files in Word and came across this page and this particular response. I admit, I was dubious because I had already tried changing the file extension from .pages to .docx and .doc with no luck. However, changing the file extension to .zip gave me a zip file that I could open.

    In that zip file there was a folder there were 3 files:

    QuickLook (File Folder)

    buildVersionHistory.plist

    index.xml

    In the QuickLook folder there was a .pdf called Preview and a .jpg called Thumbnail. Both contained the document I wanted to print. I opened the .pdf file and printed it for the student.  Adobe Acrobat Pro allows you to save a .pdf as a Word document so we did that also and the student was able to open it in Word 2007 and correct it.

    Your answer did the magic for me. After changing the .pages to .zip,  I was able to locate a PDF file that has the complete content of document. Thank you for posting.

    Many thanks for this information.

    I did as you suggested, then found a folder within the unencrypted folder and the PDF file was in there.

    Some people say you should only use MAC or Microsoft - I disagree and can open 95% of files created on either systems with advice from people like you.
