How do I open Mac Pages in a Microsoft environment?

opening the file in google docs is probably the easiest solution and then you can save it as a pdf etc

Err, 

1. "Mac office" is quite ambiguous. I believe, perhaps wrongly, we're talking about files produced from the Apple iWork suite/Pages software. A lot of people might assume "Mac Office" meant Microsoft's Office suite for Mac, partly because thats what it says on the box.
2. If we're talking about iWork/Pages, I stand by what I said, and the link you referenced is not only irrelevant but arguably misleading. You could of course say that this has nothing whatever to do with any Microsoft product, in which case maybe a mod. could move this conversation somewhere else. But that would be a shame if someone actually knew how to open Pages files in an MS product.
3. If we're talking about files produced using recent versions of Microsoft Office on recent versions of the Mac operating systems, then it is usually straightforward to open those files using a recent version of Windows Word. There may be all sorts of problems, e.g. pictures not showing etc., but simple word documents with nothing but text and standard Word features and objects should be fine.
4. I've seen suggestions that people with Mac versions of Office should look elsewhere for support. And the forums you can reach via mactopia are arguably better places for questions about Mac Office. But actually it's not completely obvious in these groups that  the topic being discussed is solely "Windows Office" - the topics are about "Microsoft Office Word" and IMO that includes Mac Word.
