Here is another way.

1.  In the pages program on your mac, click on File, then Export to followed by Word

2.  On the Word” tab. Click on “Advanced Options" and on the format bar, click on .docx (if using any word version 2007 to present, or .doc if earlier version.

3.  On Save as, give the file a name, and location (desktop or flash drive) and click on export.

You can now take that file to any PC that has Word and open.

    Huge caveat with this: you can open a .pages file by changing the file name to .zip (and it doesn't involve MS Office at all: Open the QuickLook folder and open Preview.pdf) but you cannot edit the file.  Also, by doing this, if you change the extension from .zip back to .pages, re-opening the file will mess up certain layouts.  Fine if you're on a final copy, but if the Mac user lost the original document, they could be out of luck.

    You must use iWork Pages to save the file as a .doc or .docx in order for a MS Office recipient to be able to edit the file, period.  This trick only allows someone to view the file.

    THIS DOES NOT WORK.

    HERE IS WHAT WORKS

    • GoTo your Google Docs Account (or set one up for free if you don't already have one)
    • Upload the Zip file or the pages file(s) to your Google Account
    • Open the Pages file(s) in the Google Docs environment
    • The pages document is now visable
    • Print the document (this will convert the pages / docs document to a PDF)
    • You can (1) print the document (2) save the PDF version to your desktop for future use without Google docs.

    EASY!!!

    This did not work for me.  When I upload the document (in either a .pages or .zip format) into my newly created googledocs account, it is unable to generate a preview of the document and also therefore unable to print it.  Deven's suggestion did not work either, that just gives a bunch of contents in a folder, none of which want to open.  Maybe I'm missing the technology boat???  Is there really no easy way to convert .pages to .doc???

    None of these tips convert the file, just opens a read-only copy.  The original user needs to open the file in Pages and save it to .doc or .docx.  If they don't do that last step, you can't edit it, period.

    IF you have Adobe Acrobat Pro, of course.

    Most free PDF Creators don't allow for editing existing PDFs.

    Hi there,

    If you are talking about opening a file with .pages extension , well that is possible.

    Steps.

    1. Save the file locally on your windows computer.
    2. Right click on the file and select rename.
    3. Remove .pages extension and enter .zip as the extension and press enter.
    4. Open the zip file and it shold allow you open the file and its contents.
