How do you limit the header and footer to only the first page of a document?

I ant the header and footer to only appear on the first page.

Now it appears on every page OR on every odd page.

You need to enable "Different first page" and put the header and footer content only in the First Page Header and First Page Footer. If you see the header/footer on every page, then you are putting it in the primary Header/Footer. If you're seeing it only on odd pages, then you have enabled "Different odd and even" which makes the primary header/footer the Odd Page Header/Footer.

My first thought would be IF you have multiple section breaks, you have to UNLINK the Headers and Footers from the previous sections.

    1. Double-click in the header area to open the header. The contextual Header & Footer Tools | Design tab will be displayed.
    2. If you have already added text to the header and don't want to have to retype it, select it all and press Ctrl+X to cut it to the Clipboard.
    3. On the Header & Footer Tools | Design tab, in the Options group, check the box for Different First Page.
    4. If your document has only one page, you will now see "First Page Header" on the blue tab at the bottom of the header area. If you are on a subsequent page of a multi-page document, you will still see "Header"; click Previous in the Navigation group to go to the First Page Header.
    5. Type or paste your header content here. If you are pasting, note that there will be an extra, empty paragraph below the pasted material; you'll need to delete that.

    Where are "Different First Page" and "First Page Header"?

    I STILL have not found a way to limit printing the Header to the first page. It prints on every subsequent page. My Header is my postal address, which should appear ONLY ON THE FIRST PAGE of a letter.
