Need hyperlinks index entries in word 2007

Hi All,

I am trying to find a way to get the page numbers in a Word 2007 generated index to contain hyperlinks to the corresponding content in the document. So far I haven't been able to find a way to do this. 

Web searches seem to suggest this could be done with a macro, but that is beyond my skill level. I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions, or knows of a pre-existing macro I could use to achieve this.

    If there is a programer out there, I would pay money for the macro. 

    Word Perfect has had this feature since 1987. 

    Adobe PDF has had it for at least 5 years.

    This is retarded.

    I don't know how to hyperlink form a page number within a word index. However, you can hyperlink to a topic from the index to the corresponding topic within the word document. Simply create a "bookmark" linked to the topic/word within the document; then from the index, create a hyperlink to that bookmark. Depending on the size of your index, this can be very time consuming but it works.

    That answer has already been supplied and discarded as totally unworkable. In index can have hundreds of entries.

    Basically, Word can't do it. But FrameMaker can. Get a clue, Microsoft.

    Note that Word is primarily intended for printed documents.

    So is FrameMaker. For that matter, so is InDesign and Quark, and they also generate hyperlinked index entries. Anyone who says differently is unfamiliar with the subject.

    You don't typically send a Word file to a professional printer to print a book, particularly if you are using colors, and heaven forbid you need to manipulate bleed areas.

    Word is to help the amateur feel like a professional. The real professionals prefer other software.
