I am trying to copy a long list of file names in file explorer and paste them into excel so I can keep track of file status, is there an easy way to do this?

To copy file names from explorer to past into excel without downloading software nor use VBA
- Go to command prompt (RUN / CMD)
- go to the desired directory and type dir
- Copy the list of the file names
- Past it in Excel.
It is as simple as that
How do you go to the desired directory? I only get a list of folder names, not file names.
