I have a Word 2010 doc that will not print images or text boxes, of which the doc contains twenty or so. I have tried printing to different printers (different brands/models) in our office, to no avail. When printing to PDF (Acrobat Pro, not Word's built-in distiller), it works; so does doing a Save As using the built-in PDF distiller. Curiously, a single image in the doc does, in fact, print; it was imported from a 2003 doc (however, so were most of the other images that are not printing). In addition, I have a SmartArt component (org chart) that is printing fine.
Any suggestions on a solution are appreciated. Converting to PDF each time I need to print is tedious and should not be necessary when using the world's most popular word processor...

I think you are correct. This does sound like a problem with the printer driver. Check to make sure that you have the latest driver and then delete and reinstall the printer.
2015 - January - Flow chart (text boxes, with color fill) not printing at all ... not the borders, nothing except the text within. Tried on multiple printers. All the settings were right and the only thing that finally worked was, yes, saving in Word 97-2003! It is truly amazing that nothing has been done update-wise in all these years.
I had the problem where the images that I had pasted over from a PDF into Word 2010 were not printing yet I could see it in print preview. While I'm waiting for my IT department to help me with a printer driver I simply saved it as a PDF and printed it that way. It doesn't fix the problem in Word but did help me get document printed.
Using Word 2013 to try and print a docx Stock Certificate template downloaded from MS but unable to print a text box containing RESTRICTIONS ON TRANSFER language that I've added to that document.
I've tried all of the solutions offered here without success and have 10+ Certificates w/o the text box information to show for it.
This would have taken me no time at all using Word 2003. What can possibly explain this incredibly bad software down grade? This is absolutely ridiculous!
When images print preview but don't print in Word 2010 my solution is to switch off Background printing. Then it prints fine.
