How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    Thank you for the care. So I have noticed, but it should. I used to use Nisus a long time ago, and it did (advanced apology if I have confused Nisus with another application that did).

    Yes, it colorizes the underline just fine. My initial inquiry was for the color of the strikethrough line, not the underline line. I apologize for the misunderstanding and appreciate your kind efforts. Happy New Year!

    As Suzanne pointed out though, there is a simple non-macro method for setting the underline colour. The second macro I posted is for coloured strike-throughs and addresses the original topic of this thread. Since that macro, too, employs an EQ field, the same limitations apply.

    It colorizes the whole string mimicking the original string, kind of destroying it: No strikethrough is seen actually. I may have pushed it too hard so far. I have to use a color pen on hard copies until somehow there is a solution from somewhere.  Thank you for your perseverance, but it doesn't work. Much obliged.
