How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    The ol' "Why would you want to...." reply. How is this ever helpful? Are you just curious why someone would want to?

     I get this reply in forums in all types of software, sometimes people think outside of the box, have reasons, more ways to track and differentiate items,

    That is a good idea. If you create a new suggestion there, or find an existing one to vote for, post the link back here in a reply for everyone else to add their votes to it. The more votes, the better the chances MS will at least consider the suggestion.

    The solution is remarkable. It would be perfect though if Stefan could precede the overstrikes with a macro, or just embed a macro, to overstrike the complete text. As is, one needs to count the number of characters that need to be struck through.
