How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    I actually tested using a shape for strike through before sending that last reply.  The test confirmed what I expected, the shape strike through stayed in place (small) while the text expanded.  As I said, I expected it since this is a workaround, the strike through is not intrinsic to the text. 

    The shape did stay with the text when I added/removed text before after the shape.

    How often would someone change the font size of a legal document?

    Yes, using shapes as a work around to create colored strike throughs is going to be expensive in time to create and maintain, simply because it is a work around.

    Tony, I tend to believe you are wrong. The fact that it seems useless to you, doesn't mean it will be useless to others.

    A simple reason, is that some corrections needs to be noted out to other users. Track changes do it well, but there is a problem; not all users know how to handle Track Changes. Perhaps we should abandon user friendliness for progression, but it can't be decided in a "hip of your mind", if you get what I mean.

    It's not a nonsense - it's needed for legal pleadings when highlighting amended statements of claim (with strikethoughs marked in red).
