How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    I am stunned that so many respondents here feel that a colored strikethrough is frivolous, or for a limited market and not worth it.  Because of it's day to day use in legal documents, it is also a common practice in business in general.  "Blue lining" and "Red lining" are the common methods of using strikethroughs in business documents.  Basic stuff.  Why would Microsoft include a strikethrough feature without addressing the color?  I doubt that they did.   I'm going to keep searching for a more current conversation, because I'm sure Microsoft has resolved this by now. 

    Just had to comment, since I was so stunned by the statements.

    One reason for wanting to use strikethrough in a different color from the text is for teaching purposes. No, it is not a waste or resources as Tony mentioned. When teaching people about editing, it would be great to be able to show them a redacted copy and to use different strikethrough colors in showing various kinds of redactions. I have not been able to figure out an easy way to do it myself and usually export it as a PDF, redact it in a PDF editor, then use the PDF to teach with.
