How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    Why would you need a strikethrough that's a different colour from the letters themselves?

    Hello,

    I'm disappointed that apparently no one seems to have an answer for this query. I've no real objection to saying why I want the function in question. It's just that this information would be entirely irrelevant.

    I assume that a different colour of strikethrough is not possible, and I suspect that perhaps this may be due to Microsoft reserving this function for the "Track Changes" and "Compare", functions.

    Still, there ought to be a way of providing different coloured strikethrough to users.

    I am surprised however, that no one was able to provide a proper response.

    As far as I know, you cannot change the color of strikethrough formatting. I have no idea why. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that you can have different colors if you use Track Changes, as you suggest.

    On the other hand, notice that it is possible to specify a separate color for underline formatting.
