How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    No, I'm using a std US-style keyboard with Word configured for English (AUS). Regardless, whatever keyboard one uses has no effect on the result. In your case, it could be that the font you're using is an old proprietary one that assigns ASCII characters above 127 to something other than the std high-ASCII character set. The character that's supposed to appear in the text is just an ordinary em-dash. Try inserting:

        .Font.Name = "Times New Roman"

    before:

        .Font.Bold = True

    Hi Paul,

    It could delete and reuse your amended macro. Thank you, but I think now I know why it doesn't  strike through, or rather it does so with a red 'ó'. I surmise that you are using a  foreign keyboard that causes this.

    Start Word and press Alt-F11 to open the VBA Editor. You should be able to find the affected code module and delete/rename from there.

    I just can't get to my macros. Neither adding or removing macros works. It quits with the error message I reported to you!
