How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    Note that when posting a reply here you are not communicating with Microsoft. On the contrary, the vast majority of contributors are not working for Microsoft, and those who do have a title such as "Microsoft employee"; for more on roles in the forum, click the Help link and then, in the FAQ, take a look at "Who's who in the forums?".

    I have had the same question for some time and finally searched.  These (above) are responses??  Nobody recalls some later models of the IBM Selectric typewriters and early IBM dot matrix color ribbon printers (c. 1985) that provided strikethrough lines in red.  

    Then, I remember when WordPerfect  ruled, it permitted a choice of strikethrough line colors. Unlike WordPerfect or say, Apple, MS thinks if the public isn't clamoring for something there must be no market for it.  Why don't you have an idea, Microsoft?  Move forward.  The public wasn't clamoring for an iPod or iPad either.  BTW, [I use HP, Win 7 Pro, MS Office 2010.  I'm not an Apple freak but I know their OS.]

    Incidentally, the REASON why strikethroughs are better when in a contrasting color is they are more easily and quickly seen, at a glance.
