How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

I want to thank you for your three recent posts. I started this thread a long time ago, but just wanted to thank you, because your contributions do helpfully point out that when people do not have an answer for the question, they can sometimes be rather dismissive in their response.

Why can they not just say that we do not provide the function you seek!

Maybe there is sensitivity about about how the questioner will take this. However, I far prefer a straightforward response that answers the question put, and which assumes the questioner knows what they are asking, rather than an evasive or dismissive response.

I also appreciate the good response to you from Suzanne S. Barnhill, but I believe there is indeed sufficient detail provided in my original question for it to be answered to the point.

Although the function asked about is not available, and this may be due to the expense of building it into the application compared with the perceived customer demand, perhaps as time goes by, the expense of providing it will become lower, and a decision could be made to provide it.

Thank you for your very diplomatic answer, Suzanne.  This is a solution that I could live with.

I would, however, like to point out that I've seen (on more than one occasion), where the stipulation in the question is "please don't ask why I want to do this," the next three responses are snarky.  The poster usually has a very good reason for wanting this specific answer, and wants to circumvent all the above non-responses.

The way my brain works is that I ask very specific questions for very specific problems, because, even if I don't use that solution right away, I can file it away as a solution to a different problem in the future.  Maybe I'm an outlier that way, but I don't believe that to be true.  A lot of us are self-taught, playing with the programs and occasionally going to the Web for more expansive answers.

I'll just offer a comment on your #1. Sometimes if we know the reason for the request, we can suggest another method that would accomplish the desired result in another way (for example, instead of having mutually exclusive Yes and No checkboxes, you might use a Yes/No dropdown).

And if the request is to fulfill an absolute requirement (you're preparing a document for a government or corporation that absolutely insists that it be done a certain way), then we won't suggest substitute methods.

Often a poster asks a question without much detail, and several replies later it turns out that he's actually trying to do something rather different from what could be inferred from the original question. It's sometimes possible to offer so much detail that possible helpers are deterred (an occasional paragraph break helps), but generally more is better.

While I FULLY appreciate (and I sincerely mean that) volunteers giving freely of their time to answer questions and help a fellow sojourner for truth in their path to enlightenment, my gripe was about people who have nothing productive to add to an asker's desperate plea for help. If I'm at work and my job depends on figuring out how to accomplish something with hardware or software that I'm using, I can live without wading through 5 pages of "non-information."

This has been my major peeve with the Internet since i started using it 100 years ago.

Frankly, I would love to see the following stricken from use:

1. Why do you want to do that?
2. It makes no sense at all for anyone to do that.
3. Yep, my computer's doing that too!  Any solutions?
4. I know you want to use the program you just spend an arm and a leg for and not have to spend anything else, but you should download this (really expensive) software and do it that way.

Contrary to popular belief, some of us just want to learn (a) if the thing we want to do is possible; and (b) how to do it.  If you're reading a question and don't know the answer, then DON'T ANSWER.  No need to be a jerk about it.
