How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Robert.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

It's not a nonsense - it's needed for legal pleadings when highlighting amended statements of claim (with strikethoughs marked in red).

Can you point to a statute that mandates that what is struck out is to have the struck-out text in one colour and the strike-through line in a different one? Word has never had such a capability, nor has any other word-processor I know of. Various workarounds have been mentioned in this thread for anyone who thinks this is a burning issue and, as has also been suggested, you could provide feedback to MS instead of just venting your spleen here.

Practice Direction 17 to CPR Part 17. Not venting, just pointing out some people could use it and looking for a solution so I can finish amending this claim form.

RM: I have seen the same request a few times over the years. But apparently not enough people, or more likely, not enough big number Office customers have demanded it for MS to bother with it.

FYI: This forum is intended for trouble shooting. On that vein, we have provided the workarounds we know about. Granted, none are adequate, but there you are.

A while back MS started using subsites on the "UserVoice" site to accept suggestions from the general public.  We have seen action on a couple of suggestions made there (out of thousands, 10's of thousands ...).

You can submit a suggestion with your justification for the need. Get your friends, neighbors, enemies, members of professional associations to "Vote" for your suggestion, and comment on it.  If MS sees "enough" interest in a feature they will add it to their short list of "to do" new feature develoment. What is 'enough' is not defined.

Here is a link to a collection of UserVoice subsites I have made:

"UserVoice.com" - MS Suggestion box sites

If you have an (other) feature suggestions to make for various MS products, here is a longer collection of MS UserVoice.com sites:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows_10-desktop/ms-suggestion-box-sites-at-uservoicecom/7397119c-6d48-49e6-8d94-7bd0a50d214f

Go to UserVoice, either through specific links I’ve provided or create your own suggestions there. That is where MS is looking specifically for this type of user feedback to bring them back to reality from what-ever lala-land they are working in when they make these "improvements".  Comments (and votes) like these in UserVoice helped to convince MS to roll back the "phat QAT" buttons in 2016

Please do copy the comments you've made here and paste them into comments in UserVoice. And copy the link to your suggestion and post it back on this question so other people with the same problem can vote for it and comment on it. (You’ll get faster action that way.)

This blog has a picture to show MS apparently really is looking at UsverVoice sites:
