How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    Do be aware that a serious limitation of any approach that employs drawn lines is that the result is liable to vary from one printer to the next, simply because Word uses data from the active printer driver to optimise a document's layout.

    Greetings!

    This is a simple, ingenious, quick-and-dirty solution to the issue I raised months ago here. Unless Microsoft can augment font effects with color strikethrough, this is a fine, no-fuss solution for those who need to emphasize eggcorns with this method.

    This is not a precise solution and apparently needs font sizes larger than 14, but, a no-miss solution nonetheless.

    Step 1

    Open the document in Word and locate the text you will place a strikethrough line on. Click "Insert" followed by "Shapes."

    Step 2

    Select "Line."

    Step 3

    Position the cursor at the point you want to start the strikethrough.

    Step 4

    Press and hold the left mouse key and draw the line through word or words.

    Step 5

    Click on the line to pull up the "Drawing Tools" toolbar.

    Step 6

    Press the "More" button, marked by a downward-pointing arrow under a horizontal line, and select the color you prefer.
