How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    The wording of the rules does assume legal training.

    Which I have.

    Regardless, and FWIW, if you save a document as a PDF, you can use Acrobat's text deletion tool to strike out deleted content with a red strike-through.

    I suggest you read what it says, instead of reading into it something it doesn't say...

    There is no mention of the font colour vis-a-vis either the strike-through or the underline. Thus, if the strike-through needs to be red, so to can be the text. Nothing on the page in your link or mine says the font for the text has to be black in such cases.

    It's not a nonsense - it's needed for legal pleadings when highlighting amended statements of claim (with strikethoughs marked in red). 

    Can you point to a statute that mandates that what is struck out is to have the struck-out text in one colour and the strike-through line in a different one?

    Practice Direction 17 to CPR Part 17.

    No, that is not what is required. See paras 2.2-2.4 at: http://www.justice.gov.uk/courts/procedure-rules/civil/rules/part17/pd_part17. All that is required is that "Where colour is used, the text to be deleted should be struck through in colour and any text replacing it should be inserted or underlined in the same colour." It does not require the text to be in one colour and the strike-through or underlining to be in a different colour.
