How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    Yes those are responses.

    Yes, I recall manual typewriters and selectrics. I learned touch typing on both, manual at home and selectric at school.

    Yes, I remember WP, and still mourn it's loss of the market lead.

    Yes, there are several things you could do on a typewriter that you cannot easily recreate on a Word Processor. But there are many more things you can do in a Word Processor that were not possible on a Selectric.

    Don't forget, that it's only been the last 5-6 years that home users have had access to color laser or injet printers. MS doesn't react that fast. And frankly, most people don't need to use strikethrough since it now is so easy to delete and replace text.
