I also went through both steps and have the latest driver. Excel is still failing.

I am using Office 2010 Professional with Windows 7. The installation was successful and I have no other issues with any Office programs except Excel 2010. Whenever I use the print preview button on the Quick Access Toolbar to check the print preview before printing, or use headers/footers to add these before printing, Excel crashes and forces a restart when I next go to save the document. It may allow me to do up to 3 print previews before I go to save the document and it crashes and attempts to recover the data or just shuts Excel down after a few times.
All other Office program functions work fine and I have checked my printer driver with a Microsoft utility and it reports no issues.
Can anyone help?

Hi Bill,
I seems to have similar problem as well but intermittent.
Environment (in office):
Environment (my house):
Hang happens randomly when Print Preview in a very simple 24 rows / 4 columns single sheet excel .xlsb file. I've rebooted Windows Vista many times. Failure rate seems to be in 40%~50% of the time.
I can Print Preview at home without having the physical printer as well. But it doesn't change anything as failure rate is the same as when I'm in the office.
Extra info: When it fails (hang) in print preview & I force-closed Excel2010, Control Panel->Printers hangs too.
p/s: The excel file is on the Desktop, and I double click to open it.
pp/s: I have tried with many different Excel files even with empty ones. Nothing improves.
Using Windows XP, Excel 2010, and HP 7280. Print preview then CRASH CRASH CRASH. Multiple times trying to print a document. WHY ISN'T THIS FIXED YET? Installed Office 2010 SP1, no fix. Updated to latest printer driver. Seems like lots of people are having the same issue. MS, anyone awake?
I FIXED IT! Uninstalled Excel 2010 and installed Excel 2003. Fixed. Thanks MS
sooooo....did you ever get a fix? I have the same issue and I'm researching how to fix it. I've spent hours on this and lost countless work because of this problem.
Hoping for some answers. Thnks
Me too! Me too!
I installed Office 2010 and having the same issues with JUST Excel and my HP Officejet J5780 All in One printer.
Such a pain!
Happens about every 3 times. I MUST remember to SAVE, then I go to "View Page Break Preview" in order to get what I want to print. And then it's hit or miss whether it will crash or not. I called Microsoft and spent a long time with India who said to reinstall the printer software....no fix. Then hired my fix-it guy who could NOT fix it...and told me it was a common problem and to wait for a fix...Then I had to write him a check.
How will we know when there's a patch or fix? Will it come through a Windows update?
