Excel 2010 crashes when using print preview button and adding headers/footers

I am using Office 2010 Professional with Windows 7.  The installation was successful and I have no other issues with any Office programs except Excel 2010.  Whenever I use the print preview button on the Quick Access Toolbar to check the print preview before printing, or use headers/footers to add these before printing, Excel crashes and forces a restart when I next go to save the document.  It may allow me to do up to 3 print previews before I go to save the document and it crashes and attempts to recover the data or just shuts Excel down after a few times.

All other Office program functions work fine and I have checked my printer driver with a Microsoft utility and it reports no issues.

Can anyone help?

    I found that copying from the saved Excel file to a new Excel spreadsheet, then going into file>Print but instead of changing any settings on the first screen I click 'Printer Properties'. From this screen changing it to landscape was possible and then clicking ok and then pressing Print seemed to allow me to avoid the crash with my HP printer. odd..

    HOT OFF THE PRESS....

    The product team have identified a possible way to avoid this problem.

    They are currently testing it but have given me permission to suggest it here too, so that you can see if it solves the problem for you. 

    File > Options > Advanced > General : uncheck Enable multi-threaded processing .

    Please try it and let us know whether or not it avoids the problem for you.

    Hi Bill and others who read this thread.

    I tried this and it didn't make any difference for me.

    I also download SP1 for Office today (10th August 2011) with the hope that the problem had been addressed and of course my hopes were dashed...........

    Is there any other way we can put pressure on Microsoft to resolve this issue? I imagine there must be many hundreds of people with Windows 7, Office 2010 & an HP printer

    I to am having the same problem with a HP D7100 printer, windows XP pro and excel 2010 and am totally cheesed off with it, come on Microsoft pull your finger out!!

    Using Windows XP, Excel 2010, and HP 7280. Print preview then CRASH CRASH CRASH. Multiple times trying to print a document. WHY ISN'T THIS FIXED YET? Installed Office 2010 SP1, no fix. Updated to latest printer driver. Seems like lots of people are having the same issue. MS, anyone awake?

    I'm very disappointed that this issue has not been resolved. It is a BIG deal to us. I am converting my boss back to Excel 2007 and scrapping plans to convert the rest of the office to Office 2010. We will just stay with Office 2007. :(

    I've had this same problem since buying my computer in September 2010. 

    Windows 7, Office 2010, HP Photosmart C7250. 

    Work in excel, try to print preview/save, and then after the third time doing this, it crashes.  Terribly annoying and disappointing.
