I am testing Excel 2010 on a few Windows 7 pc. 2 of them somethings get the following error after saving a file. Click ok and then it appears after 10 seconds. It just keep going on until I kill the excel process. Please assist.

You could try choosing File, Options, Advanced, and under General check Ignore other applications that use DDE.

I keep getting this message and even checked to ignore the DDE as suggested by some members here, but the problem was not solve and went on for days. However while handling this problem a message pop up which read that pdf add-on to the excel was creating serious problem and read if i want it disabled. I clicked yes to disable the add-on and the problem is solved. Bingo, the opening and closing of the excel are ok now. I am not an expert in this matter but that happen
I tried a few people's suggestions with no success, but this was perfect! For me the error was due to Adobe being open in the background. I wish I could put this at the top because if Adobe is your issue, then this is the fix!! Thanks, Sir!!
Sounds crazy but in my case all issues with Office (Outlook, Excel and Word) with OLE were gone when stopping the print spooler.
So perhaps there's a printer driver or software that's faulting in combination with Office. (including softprinters like PDFcreate, PDFcreator etc. )
