I am testing Excel 2010 on a few Windows 7 pc.  2 of them somethings get the following error after saving a file.  Click ok and then it appears after 10 seconds. It just keep going on until I kill the excel process.  Please assist.

Hi,

You could try choosing File, Options, Advanced, and under General check Ignore other applications that use DDE.

    Worked well. Thank you! I had just had another Windows computer crash and had to have the hard drive cloned to save my data. So when this happened on my new laptop using windows 10, I thought "oh no here we go again" and hit the panic button. What a relief.

    Not helpful as computer would not allow me to get into the 'file'menu or any other editing commands.  Not happy.

    RESULTS

    DONE…… follow the steps provided by Shane Devenshire

    Did not work.

    -cannot open files from File Explorer

    -opened Excel from start menu / then opened existing file

    -made changes and updates

    -selected to SAVE

    FOLLOWING HAPPENED:

    1)Excel not responding

    2)Microsoft Excel has stopped working

    3)Excel trying to recover your information

    4)Excel restarting

    Excel closed / opened to blank workbook

    2^ND^ ATTEMPT-FOLLOWING HAPPENED:

    1)Excel not responding

    2)Microsoft Excel has stopped working

    ---a problem caused the program to stop working correctly.

    Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

    Thank you!

    This was the best option because I was in the same situation where I had several open workbooks with important data which may or may not have been recently saved. I ended all acrord32.exe processes and it solved the problem that was locking up my excel.
