Error message: Word cannot start the converter mswrd632.wpc. How can I correct?

This error shows up when I try to open certain Word documents using the .doc extension.

    Don't now if any of these other suggestions worked -I try to stay out of  'regedit' - but this one did.

    Touche'  "Thank you" retired from Mars.  Changing the ".doc" to  ".docx" worked beautifully, on our Windows XP!  Creativity such as yours is marvelous.!

    I (Windows XP / Office 2007) did a little searching on the web. I have the impression that the converter under discussion is a somewhat outdated converter, you better remove it.

    The suggestion solved my problem. But I had to restart my Office programs for it to take effect.
