Microsoft Access can't find the wizard.

What do you have listed as trusted locations within Access 2007?  To look at this you can do the following:

+>Open Access 2007 and then click on the Office button -> Access Options.

+>In the Access Options dialog, click on Trust Center and then click the Trust Center settings button.

+>Then click on the Trusted Locations tab.

+>You should then see your trusted location listed. 

What locations do you have listed? 

Do you have an entry for C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\ACCWIZ\ or C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\ACCWIZ?

I have the same problems with Office 2007/Access 2007 for several users - unable to go to External Data and import Excel spreadsheet - fails on teh same wizard error reported in this thread - wish there was a fix - I did everything mentioned without any resolve.  This is a huge pain.

In my particular case, I had originally installed a 64-bit version of Office on my 64-bit PC.  Later, I uninstalled that version and installed the 32-bit version (for compatibility with other software).  I don't know if that was the issue or if the installer is just messed up, but the path to the ACCWIZ directory was not in the list of trusted locations.  What was there was:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\ACCWIZ\

What I needed was:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\ACCWIZ\

After adding the new path to the list of trusted locations and adding the Access Add-ins using the Add-in manager, all the Exernal Data Source wizards seem to be working.

Previous to this, I had tried a lot of things.  I had tried renaming the wizards to xxx.old and having Access recreate them.  I had even uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2010 a couple of times making sure to do the custom install to insure the wizards were installed.  Still no joy.  Only after fixing the trusted locations would the wizards work.  Thanks to Kathy S. for the suggestion!

Visual Basic for Applications is not used by Access 2010 so it sounds like you have a Reference problem.  Check here and post what References you do have set...

Just wanted to follow up on this thread to let everyone know that we resolved a similar issue today by renaming the VBA7 folder under "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\VBA" and repairing Office 2010.

There was another instance where a customer was running a beta version of Access 2010 and once he uninstalled and reinstalled the released version (any version lower than 14.0.4760.1000 is beta), the error went away.

Me too, have this kind of problem.

I have tried these steps:

First: Repair Office Proffesional Plus 2010. No result.

Second: Rename extensions on files in ACCWIZ folder to .old, an then repair Office intallation. No rezult.

Third: Rename VBA7 folder to .old, and the repair Office installation. Result was positive. I was able to import text files to Access. But, on opening an Access file it shows a Setup Warnig dialog with message 'Microsoft Access 2010 requres Visual Basic for Applications. If you continue, Visual Basic for Applications will be installed.'. But at the end this intallation fails. And Access open regularly.

This has happend to me after I installed Visio 2010.
