Getting the error: Microsoft Access can't find the wizard. etc...

Occurs when: Using the Import from Excel feature

I have checked the Add/Remove Features and Access is completely installed, not sure what is missing?

Microsoft 365 and Office | Access | For home | Windows

    Seems like a bug. Save the database, close it, and reopen it. This seems to fix the problem until the next time it occurs.  I find this problem happens usually after one or  several imports have already worked OK. I wish Microsoft would fix it!

    Make sure your Excel File does not have symbols in the file name.  I ran into this issue the other day.  I had an Excel File that was auto generated from our internal query tool.  The query tool put "[1]" on the end of the filename.  I had to Save As on the excel file to remedy the problem.

    It didn't help me but I also found this:

    A very simple solution once I found it (the trusted location on my machine did have an old directoryname from a removed Office 2013 version). Clearly the values for trusted locations are not cleared when removing Office.

    Hi everyone,

    I know this is a very old thread but I had to share some relevant information that might help others solve this issue.

    I had the same issue with Access 2013 on Windows 8 (in an Active Directory environment).

    While trying to link an excel database I had the same mentioned error regarding the wizard.

    I tried all the mentioned solutions and none worked.

    So what I did is this:

    • Backed up the users profile directory "c:\users\username".
    • Logged in as Administrator and deleted the users profile (right click on computer-chose properties, chose advanced system settings and then chose settings of the user profiles).
    • After deletion and a reboot, logged in as the deleted profile user (profile was recreated).
    • Copied back all the relevant information (desktop, documents, favorites...).
    • Problem solved.

    I hope this helps.

    This was probobly an error with something in the registry, if anyone forund a more delicate solution I'll be happy to hear about it.
