Centering the page in center of your monitor

Word has worked in essentially the same way for at least 15 years - I have just checked back to Word 95 - if the zoom is such that more than one page will fit side by side in the window it will align the pages in that way; this, I'm sure, is what most people would want. There may be slight differences in different versions of Word due to slight aesthetic differences in, for example, border widths, but the way it works is just the way it works and there is, as far as I know, no way to override the built-in behaviour.

Whilst your requirement is your own, and you can, of course, work in any way you wish, I can not, personally, see any advantage in having a lot of unused, and unusable, space inside the Word window but outside the Word workspace. It is very easy to resize the Word window so that the page is forced to centre within it, and to move the resized window anywhere on the screen, so this slight limitation in Word can be easily worked around with Windows facilities.

Perhaps, however, I have misunderstood the question, as you talk about zooming in. Zooming in does, at some point, affect the alignment of the part of the single page in view, but there is no question of multiple pages displaying in that circumstance. Also, I am assuming that your question relates to viewing in Print Layout mode - different effects are seen in

Draft view.

Because of the different screen ratio, a "whole page" document takes up more of the screen width on 4:3, so the percentage at which the display "flips" is different. At present I can test only in Word 2003 and 2007 on the 4:3 desktop and Word 2010 on the widescreen laptop, so it's difficult to say what differences are attributable to the Word version and which to the screen aspect ratio/resolution.

I understand how others might not understand a need for this, but being able to force word to display only 1 page at any zoom level is important to me. I have difficulty seeing, and have some special monitor equipment in order to combat this impairment. (My monitor takes care of zooming.) Replacing and moving the monitor is not really an option for me, because it is too heavy, and the equipment comes only in certain sizes. I spend most of my time everyday on a computer, so finding some workaround is important.

TerFay - thanks for the suggestion. At least on my setup, the page becomes off center when using the navigation and styles bars.
