Centering the page in center of your monitor

How do I center a page in the center of my monitor? I go to view > 1 page, but if I do that, although the page is centered, as soon as I zoom in, the entire page is set off to the left, as if it were in a 2 page view. I want to fix my view at one page, centered in the middle of my screen, with any zoom level I like.

using msword 2010, w7 64, 1920x1080 monitor

I learn something new about Word every day ...

I have to go out and can't check this properly at the moment (and the behaviour seems a little odd at first glance) but there is a setting in VBA - Zoom.PageColumns - that (partially) controls what you want. I will dig a little further on my return.

    Hi Tony,

    Unfortunately I have not used macros in word before, although I have used them occasionally in excel. Do you think a macro attached to normal.dot might work across all (new) documents? (I don't know if this is possible. But it sounds like an interesting approach, if it is.)

    If you are running special software that adjusts the zoom, I can see that co-ordinating that with other actions could be difficult. One could write a macro that made adjustments to the window based on the zoom, and assign it to a keystroke, but I don't think it can be made to run automatically and there are a lot of variables as the zoom is actually a property of each individual document window, not the Word window as a whole, so a general purpose routine might be complex. Alternatively, perhaps, resizing the Word window to some compromise size, based on trial and error, is about the best you will be able to do.

    Accepting that this is a limitation of Word, do you really regularly want to increase the zoom above about 160%, and also regularly decrease it lower than about 80% whilst at the same time only wanting to see a single page? These seem like somewhat disparate requirements. As a regular Word user myself, I rarely lower the zoom unless I want an overview of a document - but then I am not normally hampered by a wide screen!

    not be so clear to everyone else.  Let's let Steven speak for himself if he

    chooses to speak. Fair enough?

    Personally I find Steven's canned rebuke laughable.  Like swatting flies with

    a sledge hammer. Other than your conduct and reports to the authorities

    being childish, was anything really said or done here that warranted such a

    stern and foreboding admonition?

    Whatever Steven's response, that doesn't change the fact that there are at

    least two people participating in this discussion who feel that your

    responses and comments directed at Graham Mayor are absurd. As far as I am

    concerned Graham Mayor has not said anything that you didn't need to here.

    Be assured that I have read it all.

    Microsoft and its moderators can entertain inconsequential and petty

    complaints of abuse as they wish.  That doesn't change the fact that the

    core of helpfulness in forums like this are longsuffering, intelligent

    people like Graham Mayor here year after year who put up with the nettlesome

    pests who come and go.

    I think you know where I stand so I will bow out.  Report this post as abuse

    as you wish, but I think you should save some face and just bow out also.
