How do I create an address book in Word 2010

I have tried numerous help searches but cannot find an answer on creating an address book (or is it contacts) in Word 2010. While using WordPerfect it was simple. I just clicked on "tools" and then "address book" selected an individual and then clicked "insert" and the name appeared in the recipient box of the envelope window. In word you have to manually enter a recipient address. How do I go about creating a list of contacts and addresses so I don't have to manually type in the recipient's name and address when I am creating an envelope?

There is no address book or contacts in Word. It is Outlook that is the email client which has the contacts database. If you don’t have Outlook, what do you use as your email client? That may have what you are looking for.

If you have Word 2010 Starter, then you can't customize the QAT.

The keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+D inserts a DATE field using the currently selected default date format. If you want just date text rather than a field, you have to immediately unlink it with Ctrl+Shift+F9. Greg's macro is more efficient, however, because it inserts the date as text to begin with.

A possibly better approach for letters, however, is to use a letter template that includes the CREATEDATE field. Whenever you create a new document based on this template, the field will be updated to the current date and will never update thereafter (the template retains the date it was created, but new documents have their own creation dates).

For more on creating letter templates, see http://WordFAQs.mvps.org/Letterhead.htm.

No offense intended if taken....very sorry if so.  Internet Explorer 9 advised it could not locate the site.  However, I did find a link in MS that appears to be pretty simple and straight forward although I got a little busy after posting my first reply...however here it is if you like http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913496

And again, you ARE an MCC and that is impressive, so I DO APOLOGIZE, SINCERELY.

It works here and it works for the guy who wrote it. It would have been a collosal waste of time for the author to write and publish it if it didn't do something correctly (i.e., work somehow, someway)  don't you think?  It would be helpful and great if you would take a moment to explain what it doesn't do that you expect that it should.  Can you do that?
