    MarkBowler7 on Page 2 is spot on with troubleshooting aldo's code on page 1. This works beautifully when compiling reviewer comments with their associated section headers, dates, page #s, etc into a spreadsheet. Saved the day for our team!

    The macro would have worked in Word 2013 as it stood originally - but you overlooked the instruction at the top of the macro

    Sub CopyCommentsToExcel()

    'Create in Word vba

    'set a reference to the Excel object library

    Dim xlApp As Excel.Application

    Dim xlWB As Excel.Workbook

    The macro uses early binding to Excel, so you have to set a reference to the Excel object library to provide the command set. You alternative uses Late Binding so does not need the reference, and in the code example there are no Excel specific instructions so it will work without further changes.

    Thank you for providing.

    I tried to cut and paste into Word 2013 and received an syntax error.  I had to make the following changes to the first two lines to make it work with Word 2013:

    Changed

    Dim xlApp As Excel.Application

    Dim xlWB As Excel.Workbook

    to

    Dim xlApp As Object

    Dim xlWB As Object

    Because my name in word is Last, First format the "ActiveDocument.Comments(i).Initial" output Last initial -first initial ("GS" versus what would normally be "SG") which is a bit confusing with multiple reviewers. Therefore I changed it to: "ActiveDocument.Comments(i).Author" to show full name.

    Again thank you very helpful.
