How to enable synonyms in word

Hi,

When am using Ms Word 2010, after typing a word  and trying to get synonyms of that word, it is not giving any list of synonyms.

Every time it is searching though online.

Previously when i used Ms Office 2007, it used to show me instantly i mean not through searching online.

Please help me on this.

Hi 2 all,

I got the solution by adding more features of proofing:

Steps are like:

Go to Add/Remove programs select Ms Word version & click on change:

select ADD/ REMOVE FEATURES, then click CONTINUE...

then select OFFICE SHARED FEATURES:

in the list select PROOFING TOOLS

Select RUN ALL MY COMPUTER  & click NEXT.

it will take couple of minutes for the installation .

click FINISH & now open word...

There you get the synonyms.

Njoy....

If you are using Word on Windows 7, click Start menu | Control Panel. For "View by," choose "Small icons," and then click the Programs and Features icon. Locate Office in the list of programs, select it, and click Change. Follow the instructions.

    I followed your instructions regarding synonyms using Office 2010; although your response was over 12-months ago (Sep-11-2012), it is as relevant now as ever. 

    I'm using Windows 7, MS Office 365 2013 and used your advice for a perfect outcome.  Choosing the 'Small Icons' option certainly opened a greater number of options.  Alternative responses offered within this Community were not as accurate and in fact a little more difficult to follow.

    Hence I thank you for your posting and watch for any further discussions by you, perhaps in other areas.

    But clearly your title (MVP) offers the recipient reader an insight into your abilities.

    Thanks for instructing this useful info. i have done it successfully and got my synonyms. i was writing article for http://silkydesigns.com/ this site but unfortunately i was not able to find synonyms. but thanks by the way. !
