I have heard, but cannot confirm, that some people with this problem have found that altering the zoom level (slider in lower right corner of Excel window) gets the multiple seelction to go away

best wishes

    Hi  wazer44.

I've not found a FIX yet, only ways to temporarily stop it happening and they aren't guarranteed.

If you get the bug then the only way to use that sheet is to edit in noram view and keep returning to page layout to see if your edits are still within your page.

IF it has enabled you to work full time in page layout like a lot of us do with dynamic sheets then the multiple cell selection is a real pain on effecient working.

Please reply to me IF it has enabled you to work as above.

I've followed this thread for years but no one has come up with an actual cure yet.

Have a good Christmas and new Year.

F8 did not help; zoom slider from 85% up to 90% or so did help. Best wishes, John

Reading some of the initial posts on page 1, someone commented about changing from "Page Layout" to "Normal" view.  This seems to have done the trick for me.  I also tried F8 and zoom toggle to no avail.  Going to Normal view then loses some other functionality apparently, like "Split" screen viewing.  I will deal with that instead of the grouped cells.  It's annoying!  Thanks for all the comments.
