I am using excel 2007, on occasion when i try to select any one cell it will highlight and select multiple cells. Once this occurs it happens with every cell I click on.

I have heard, but cannot confirm, that some people with this problem have found that altering the zoom level (slider in lower right corner of Excel window) gets the multiple seelction to go away

I have found a temporary solution, or at least it works for me on Excel 2010.
When selecting a cell and multiple cells are selected, using the mouse roller, move your view slightly then try again.
It doesn't appear that Microsoft has identified the solution but at least this might get you through the frustration.
Checked and tried all of the suggested fixes (F8, Sticky Keys, Zoom) to no avail. Adjusting the zoom seemed to fix the problem, but as soon as I set it back to 100%, the problem re-manifested. Long story short, I switched the view from Page Layout to Normal and the problem went away! For some reason it is only an issue in Page Layout view...
I am an avid Excel user. I too have only experienced this on a single computer that I recently have had the displeasure to use. The only option that seems to work is truly to zoom out or in. The problem began at 100% and when I zoomed in to 80% it stopped. I also then zoomed out to 120% and it stopped. I do notice that with repetitive key strokes at these zoom settings that it did begin again, but I simply reset the zoom to stop. It is an apparent bug with some computers but there is a solution that helps. Thank you for your posts.
