I am using excel 2007, on occasion when i try to select any one cell it will highlight and select multiple cells. Once this occurs it happens with every cell I click on.

I have heard, but cannot confirm, that some people with this problem have found that altering the zoom level (slider in lower right corner of Excel window) gets the multiple seelction to go away

I have found that this problem only occurs in Page Layout View in Excel 2007. If I switch back to normal view or page break preview mode, the problem disappears while I am in those states but resurfaces as soon as I re-enter Page Layout.
I am on a netbook right now using a touch pad not a mouse, and I still ahve this problem.
Can I join the clan too?
I'm on 2010 and the problems just reappeared. It was there on 2007 and I never figured out how I fixed the issue and now it's back.
Logitech mouse here too. Tried switching from free spin to notched scrolling and it fixes it for 1 or 2 clicks. I think if it is a commonality, we should go to Logitech too?
Anyone not using a Logitech on here?
This worked for me. I changed the zoom view larger than 200% and clicked into a single cell. I then changed the zoom back to 110% and it was fixed. this method also worked for a colleague that I share spreadsheets with. However, this remedy did not stay fixed when I went to a 100% view. When is Microsoft going to correct this?
I too have this problem, it shows up out of the blue.
It mostly seems to happen when I have to select multiple cells for any reason and then I cannot stop selecting them - but not always.
I have found that the zoom works some times, also a quick short term solution is to copy an empty cell and then paste it into another empty cell. It seems anything that refreshes the screen temporarily stops it.
I have also found, just leaving the window open and moving into another program for a few mintues (like typing in the tech forums) will sometimes resolve the problem. But I have tried closing all of my excel windows and completely exiting the program and comes right back up.
I also tried the F8 and it did not work.
