I have heard, but cannot confirm, that some people with this problem have found that altering the zoom level (slider in lower right corner of Excel window) gets the multiple seelction to go away

best wishes

I have been frustrated by this for some time then I found that simply changing the view from 'page layout' to 'normal' fixed it for me. Good luck XX

    Hi,

I'm suffering the same issue here...

Here's a little more troubleshooting: I'm running on a laptop - my HP mouse is a Logitech under the hood... but using the trackpad doesn't solve my problem.

I found out that the problem doesn't occur in "normal" view (just in Page layout view).

Also, I found that quickly right-clicking and then left-clicking (not on the context-menu obviously), gets you one cell. (obviously, this doesn't serve you if you need to select mutliple cells)

Running Office 2007 and Win 7 (32 bits).

I too have a logitech mouse.  I have always had this problem and mine actually selects cells below.  I have tried the zoom level and this does seem to help.  I am usually in page layout view.  I would have hoped that this would not be the case in 2010 versions but it sounds like it is.  I also have a 64 bit computer running vista if that makes a differencs.
