I am using excel 2007, on occasion when i try to select any one cell it will highlight and select multiple cells. Once this occurs it happens with every cell I click on.

I have heard, but cannot confirm, that some people with this problem have found that altering the zoom level (slider in lower right corner of Excel window) gets the multiple seelction to go away

That about the position of the cursor in the cell dictates which direction the multiple cells get generated confirms (to me) what I've said about a short cut keyboard malfunction, bit like dragging a selection.
I wish you could switch them all off and maybe just choose which ones you want to use. I use word a lot and in my new to me 2007 version I often get editing boxes open for no apparant reason. Another of these damn keyboard shortcuts that make your work harder as you have to keep stopping to get rid of them.
I think the programmers should have a good think on if what they design is actually needed and not if it's a good gimmick or they feel clever having invented it, does it actually HELP you use the program.

Keep up the good work. I will just remind us that someone above noticed that if the cell you are in is displayed big enough, it does seem to make a difference if the cursor is in the middle or left portion of the cell or over to the right. More to the right seems to pick up the cell to the right. this noticed on the Dell at work. Would it be great that MS would do their part?
