Hi,
I am using O2010 Professional Plus UK. It seems that O2010 ignores all setting of the Properties of the printer and only applies the settings you see on the print page of Office itself. That means that all other options of the printer are out of reach: O2010 just ignores them.
This issue is only with O2010 and not with any other software so it clearly must be an O2010 problem.
I am using a Vista 32bit UK OS.
Any help in solving this is more than welcome!

It suggests an incompatible printer driver or the driver is damaged. Download the latest version of the driver, then delete and reinstall the printer. If it persists, take it up with the printer manufacturers support site to see if they have a solution.

Problem: Microsoft Word 2010 ignores printer settings when in Compatability Mode. When in Word 2010 mode it prints fine. For example: try printing 2 copies, or a page range, current page or anything else in any compatability mode document created in any verson of Word and it does not work. It will print a full copy of the document. But it ignores everything else.
Temp fix: I have people convert the document to Word 2010 format to do any kind of special printing. If they want the page range or 2 copies or anything else it has to be done from Word 2010 format.
Keep in mind that Word 2007 DocX format is Different than Word 2010 DocX and so 2007 docs come up as compatability mode as well and have the same issues as any other .doc docs.
MS should fix this. I know office 2012 is about to release, but this is a really bad bug. I have this issue on brand new images running Windows 7 Pro (updated), Drivers for all the printers updated, and the issue is happening on all the many types of printers we have. Not a driver issue. Word issue.
By the way, the version of Word 2010 is the corporate version with sp1 built in. Not sure if that makes any difference. I don't have 2010 without sp1. Maybe that has less issues. Curious if the guys not experiencing this are running a previous version of 2010.

As you have jumped in to a thread that was started a couple of years ago without describing exactly how the "same" issue is manifesting itself, I would suggest that you start a new thread in which you give a full description of the problem.

I have a document that does not use the printer settings; specifically the default printer settings are set to print grayscale but Word always prints the document in color. While in Word, when I go in to "Printer Properties"; the properties show Color not Grayscale. If I change the printer properties to grayscale and click on "OK" to save the changes, the changes are not saved. It appears the issue may have something to do with the document having some settings, such as page size, being saved in the page layout because it doesn't happen on all documents.
Saving the document as a doc or docx has no impact and there are no 3rd party software applications involved. Just because you aren't having a problem with this doesn't mean it isn't an issue.

Thanks, Dale, for saying what I've wanted to say while reading through this thread. Doug clearly has no idea what he's talking about and has no business being called an expert. He can't recreate the problem and therefore assumes there isn't one. This is completely false logic on his part and only serves to make him seem to be a fool.
I happen to work for one of those printer manufacturers, and I happen to know that this is a problem that only occurs in Office 2010, and there is nothing the manufacturer can do to fix it because MS Office IGNORES THE SETTINGS!
So please, Microsoft, get someone on this and figure it out. Don't give us false arguments about it being a driver problem when that has been proven wrong, and don't tell us that it's not a problem because you can't duplicate it or because the thread's an old one.

At that point, the thread had something like 40 posts to it so determining which one of them was your particular problem would not be much better that finding a needle in a haystack and my suggestions was that you start a new thread in which you gave a full description of the problem as it would then be more likely to attract a response.
One other point is that this thread has been marked as Answered and many of the people who are likely to be able to help you concentrate on the Unanswered threads.
I only came across this thread as I happened to look through some of the threads to which I have contributed and saw that there was some recent activity.
I believe that your issue results from a deficiency in the Printer Driver. If you are not prepared to accept that response, then I would very much suggest that you do start a new thread for the reasons that I have mentioned above.
