My computer will only print one copy even tho i select muliple copies

I cant seem to figure out why the programme will only allow me to print one copy of a document at a time even tho multiple copies are selected!! i have installed the printer drivers again and am nearly sure that its not the printers fault? any ideas anyone?

Just to confirm this fixed the issue for me.  Printer is an HP LaserJet 3330 using Windows 7's own driver.  Disabling Mopier mode (which had been enabled by default) fixed the problem and allowed multiple copies to be printed.   Steps to fix:

  1. Start > Devices and Printers

2. Double-click printer

  1. Double-click "Customize your printer"
  2. Click "Device Settings" tab
  3. Scroll to bottom of page and change "Mopier Mode" to Disabled under the "Installable Options" group.

Thanks for pointing this out David, it's something that's been bugging me since Vista.

Does this issue happen only with Word?

Did you try to print in other Office applications like Excel?

Check if you can print multiple copies in WordPad and Excel.

If it happens only in Word, check this article and see if it helps

    In the olden days printers could only print one document, so to get multiple printouts of the same document you had to send the document to the printer multiple times. The application or driver or spooler on the computer was responsible for handling the sending of each copy, over and over to the printer.

    Newer printers may be given one copy of the document and told to print it X times. I think that's what mopier is (because when you turn it off you get multiple copies - because the computer is sending each copy to the printer). Google it!

    The newer (since when, depends on the manufacturer and printer's firmware) printers can handle copies as well as collating on their own. Some may require more printer-memory to handle more complex functions too.

    You need both computer and printer software to handle what needs to be printed. (And for my one-sided LaserJet 6L to get duplex I have to print the odd pages, take those and put them just the right way into the input bin and print the even pages on the other side. ;-) )
