I want to add a page number in word 2010, but there are  no options of varying page numbers. What it says is just More page numbers from office.com and save selection as page number(in grey). Nornally, wasn't it supposed to show all the pictures of the options listed?

So, I wanted to find More Page Numbers from Office.com, but there were No Online Content Available.

The problem was fixed by making "C:\Users...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1033"unhidden, although I didn’t delete the “Building Blocks.dotx” mentioned inhttp://www.conetrix.com/Blog/post/Fix-Missing-Insert-Page-Numbers-in-Word-2007.aspx.

But why aren't there more Page Numbers from Office.com?

Anyways, thanks for all the help.

    What do you mean by "I don't want to put page numbers in odd places"? Using Ctrl+F9 to insert a field and typing PAGE between the braces will put a PAGE field anywhere you like, including the header or footer. Alt+F9 should toggle the display from field code to field result. And Alt+Shift+P should insert a PAGE field, which will display either the page number or { PAGE } depending on the current state of field code display.

    What happens when you press Alt+Shift+P? If it is really "nothing at all," then perhaps the shortcut needs to be reassigned. The command you want to assign it to is InsertPageField. Since you appear to have a French version of Word installed (or at least the default language set to French), perhaps there are some variations in these shortcut keys, but I would not expect that.

    John, did you upgrade from MS Word 2007 to MS Word 2010?  That's what happened to me as well.

    If you use the insert page number command to place your page number somewhere other than the current location, you will delete current content.

    Thank you Thank you- my computer crashed and I had to have office reinstalled. Apparently some of the files were hidden- your answer did the trick!!!
