I'm using Office 2007 on Windows 7 Professional.
This drives me crazy, and right now it's blocking other text I need to edit. When I move text around, using the right-click cut and paste menu, after pasting the paste options popup shows, and it won't go away, even if I choose a paste option. How do I make the stupid thing disappear after I'm done with it?

So you have to go through the whole rigamarole about getting rid of the annoying paste options button again when you simply copy and paste with Control V? Well that is just silly, but your answer explains why it keeps showing back up over and over and over, again.
If you never want the Paste Options button to show up, you can disable it permanently: Click File | Options | Advanced. Clear the "Show Paste Options button when content is pasted" option (found in the "Cut, copy, and paste" section). Click OK.

We're on the fourth page now and an answer was already selected. Most people will only see that answer and leave. This is helping hardly anyone. It's been nearly a month since anyone has posted, so it's unnecessary.

Lol ... by definition, if the thread is bumped it is because someone is being helped.
Oops ... I guess I just bumped the thread for no reason .... :-)
