I'm using Office 2007 on Windows 7 Professional.
This drives me crazy, and right now it's blocking other text I need to edit. When I move text around, using the right-click cut and paste menu, after pasting the paste options popup shows, and it won't go away, even if I choose a paste option. How do I make the stupid thing disappear after I'm done with it?

The Office button only exists in Office 2007; it's the round "pizza" button on the top left of the application window.
In Word 2010 and 2013, click File tab | Options | Advanced, where you'll find "Show Paste Options button when content is pasted."

Ok, found it. Thanks. Buried deeply, but what's new ...
Click on the Office button and then on Word Options and then on Advanced and go to the Cut, copy, and paste section and uncheck the box for "Show Paste Options buttons".
Perfect! The paste options are already present in the ribbon, so I'm not sure why we would want this popping up all the time. Thanks for your help!
When you click on the Paste Options button, you do get options, including "Set Default Paste," which takes you to the Paste Options settings, where you can clear the check box for "Show Paste Options button."
