How do I make the "Paste Options" popup go away after pasting text?

I'm using Office 2007 on Windows 7 Professional.

This drives me crazy, and right now it's blocking other text I need to edit.  When I move text around, using the right-click cut and paste menu, after pasting the paste options popup shows, and it won't go away, even if I choose a paste option.  How do I make the stupid thing disappear after I'm done with it?

    Wouldn't it be great if Word 2010 would allow the user to offset the Paste Options box so that it doesn't block the text you want to work on.   :)

    I have to agree with the quote above: "sounds as if I only have two options - have the thing appear and stay around, or not have it appear at all.  I do sometimes use it. "

    Seems the program could be a little more user friendly on this point.

    I have exactly the same issue with Word 2010. Pressing the escape key usually doesn't work for me. At present I'm working on a document and this paste options box pops up after every paste and refuses to go away, even on pressing the Esc key.

    My workaround is to paste something else at random, (up comes the box) then Ctrl+Z which removes the new paste and the box. Very tedious. It's a bug and needs fixing.

    ARE YOU SERIOUS? IT'S THAT SIMPLE???  It worked.  Dough you are amazing!  That's been a frustation of mine for years.  It just popped up today, and stayed there, per usual. I finally got so frustrated I said to myself surely there's an answer on the internet.   Four words and you cut down my drinking problem.  "Press the Esc key."  THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
