How do I make the "Paste Options" popup go away after pasting text?

I'm using Office 2007 on Windows 7 Professional.

This drives me crazy, and right now it's blocking other text I need to edit.  When I move text around, using the right-click cut and paste menu, after pasting the paste options popup shows, and it won't go away, even if I choose a paste option.  How do I make the stupid thing disappear after I'm done with it?

    Since this thread is about closing the Paste options window, it is that window I'm talking about. The pop-up does not have a "close" button. You have to hit escape. Really stupid UX/UI. Once you figure it out, it's no problem, but as I said, good design suggests that the pop-up have its own "close" button.

    Is this a stupid conversation, or what?

    That's a close button for the whole window. Duh. "I don't have a close button for the pop-up there. Good UX says there should be a close button right there in the pop-up."

    Is that concept really that difficult to grasp??

    Which kind of close button are you referring to? To close a Windows program, you can always use the X in the upper right corner. If you are running Windows 8.x, this applies to programs in desktop mode, such as Office programs. Apps running from the Start screen may have no close button unless you rest the mouse pointer at the top of the app.

    Note, however, that this thread is about closing the Paste Options pop-up in Word 2013.

    May I suggest to anyone annoyed by 'bumping' postings on this thread , don't read them.

    This thread is old and there hasn't been a reply for months. Nobody is going to see what you had to add at the bottom of the fourth page. In an actual forum, this thread would have been locked years ago for this reason. There's no need to reply any more.

    You are wrong, when you say there have been no replies for months.  There have been some 14 posts on this thread since the beginning of June, 5 of them this month.

    I found the solution to my problem on this thread and am thankful to those people who monitor it and  try to help.

    It's your comments that are as "old as dirt".  If you don't want to participate helpfully, unsubscribe by clicking on 'Stop emails' and leave those who need advice ask for it and those who provide it, do so in peace.
