How do I make the "Paste Options" popup go away after pasting text?

I'm using Office 2007 on Windows 7 Professional.

This drives me crazy, and right now it's blocking other text I need to edit.  When I move text around, using the right-click cut and paste menu, after pasting the paste options popup shows, and it won't go away, even if I choose a paste option.  How do I make the stupid thing disappear after I'm done with it?

    Note that clearing the option you mention disables the Paste Options button, which isn't necessarily something that everybody wants to do.

    Pressing ESC, or continue typing, is a simpler solution.

    Outlook 2013

    1. File -> Options -> Mail
    2. Scroll down to the "Other" category
    3. Uncheck the box "Show Paste Options button when content is pasted into message"
    4. click "OK" button

    If pressing Esc doesn't work, then it could be that, like me, you're in the habit of doing a Save using Cmd-S after every bit of typing or pasting. My left hand has been in the habit of doing this automatically for 25 years! Unfortunately, this seems to have the effect of freezing this annoying PasteOptions icon on the screen – it doesn't even move when you scroll up and down. The only way to get rid of it then is to close the document and re-open it. Hope that helps!

    Since you are referring to Cmd S, I guess you are using Word for Mac? I don't use that version myself.

    In Word for Windows, it is certainly possible to "close" the Paste Options pop-up even after saving the document with Ctrl+S.
